Boho home all-around, and then there’s the view…
Or should I say view
s, plural?
Because this renovation by architect and designer
Christine Leja opened up a dark and choppy attic apartment in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, to drink in a panorama of sea and city.

If you’re lucky enough to live on an island in the Mediterranean you ought to be able to stare out at it as much as possible, I always say. This two-bedroom apartment, in fact, has great views all the way ‘round.

Upon entering, there's the old city in the distance, drawing you. Fun, modern colors throughout play against bright white walls and gray slipcovers, inviting rather than distracting.

Claim a spot on this sofa for that killer view of the Bay of Palma we saw earlier. I love the boho feel the worn rug, distressed table, and whimsical toys give this part of the space. And that mix of pillows is electric!

This terrace, one of two in the apartment, can be accessed either from the living room or the second bedroom. But before you get too caught up in breathing salt air or counting masts in the harbor…

...have a seat at the sturdy farmhouse table on one of the fun modern chairs. That’s the front door to the left of the table, with access to bedrooms and baths farther left.

Windows in the master bedroom are smaller, for privacy, but still allow picturesque portions of the old city to peek in. I like how one of the colors in the mix is featured on the coverlet. Of course, you can never go wrong with turquoise, IMHO.

The master bath builds on a foundation of warm neutrals and white. From a distance you notice pops of yellow.

Then close-up you see subtle repetition of the multicolor palette in the stripes of the towels and the colorful squares of soap.

The second bedroom’s terrace access rewards you with a sweeping view of the city, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria (right).

Beyond the dining room is the kitchen.

Don’t you love how the color pops unify the space?

The kitchen yields yet another terrace with yet another great view, in case you want to take your tea or coffee alfresco.
