With the increasing popularity of color-of-the-year Rose Quartz, rose gold and copper have been showing up more in furniture and accessories. Some forecasts say it’s on the wane for 2016, but others say precisely the opposite. One trend that definitely IS coming into its own is mixing metals—including black matte finishes with the traditional gold, silver and copper—for a sophisticated, layered look.
CB2’s January lookbook provides a bounty of examples of mixed metals playing nice. Then they up the ante on key pieces by throwing marble, leather, exotic woods, and fiber into the mix. The end-game is nothing short of stunning, and the room vignettes prove there’s magic in this mayhem.
Lush and lovely lounging
This room has it all: the warmth of rose gold, copper, bronze and brass; the coolness of chrome and brushed nickel; the drama of black. My favorites are the pieces that team up metal and marble, like the rose gold

Smart coffee table.
British Colonial safari chairs are also hot right now, as is using one of any kind of accent chair in your furniture grouping.

The

I’m gushing over these leather
Director’s benches with their cross-braced iron frames. They look great pulled up to a coffee table but would also work at the end of a bed or in an entryway and come in a
stool size, too.

I love how the
rose gold and marble pedestal tables mix with the massive vase, other black metal accessories, and
swing-arm brass wall sconces. How cute to color-coordinate with your pet, and what a well-behaved poochie!
The
iron circle wall clock with its brass hands presides over this living area in timely fashion. And there’s that Via bookcase again! The
Astronomy floor lamp has me seeing stars, that’s for sure. It’s designed by Barcelona-based
Mermelada Estudio and draws its inspiration from a vintage telescope. The wood tripod base mixed with a sleek iron shade and fittings lends a homey appearance to an otherwise technical lamp.
Dine in divine, delicious design
Roadhouse black leather and brass chairs are described as “rock and roll meets rustic.” Partnered with the
Dial table and its artistically patterned brass legs, you might just be inspired to greater accomplishments in the kitchen. Well, maybe not. But I bet any meal tastes a bit more special at this table. Don’t miss that cute little
Mister table lamp in gold and bronze either!
The
Silverado brass table is a gilded update to the chrome version. Both can be purchased with either round or rectangular glass tops. Paired with the upholstered
Rouka chair with burnished brass frame, the ensemble is at home in an industrial loft or midcentury setting.
Jannis Ellenberger designed the Roukas;
rouka in Finnish is "food."
Aren’t these gleaming gold
Flint bar stools the bomb? They’re available in a 24- or 30-inch height. And whether you’re serving soda or champagne, that
copper bar tray will carry a payload of sparkle.
Formidable function
Now this is a desk that can go places, literally. Aptly named the
Go-Cart rolling desk, it features a polished stainless steel top and bright, reflective chrome legs. And if silver’s not your thing, it also comes in mint green, black and white. Lingering in the background is another nod to the color of the year, a
pink marble bookend that will hold up your heftiest tomes.
More metal and marble—I love that combination!—this time in the glamorous
Dahlia desk, which I think would make a perfect dressing table. Everyone was gung-ho for pineapples last year, but now, not so much. Not to worry, the lamp pictured here is the
Artichoke lamp and copper-finished to boot.
I have a serious crush on the new
Memento mirror cabinet, designed by Mermelada Estudio in acacia wood, cane and gleaming brushed brass. Ideal for the entry, but it would be gorgeous in a powder room with a small, decorative sink installed. Love the contrast with the
Armor aluminum basket beneath.
You could do some serious entertaining with either one of these brand new bar carts. At left is the rose gold and glass
Dolce Vita bar cart, and at right is the
Cavalier, a mix of marble and glass shelves that will switch places, bound in black matte and ringed around the top with brass-finished stainless steel.
These accessories are so inventive and modern-looking, particularly the
copper triangle accessory/towel holder (left), the
three-pronged copper print hook (right), and the
jacks ring holder, which comes in gold or silver.
